Embarkation was not very good - in fact I could only honestly call it chaotic - but whether this was down to MSC or the port staff we couldn't tell. Once on board we were very pleasantly surprised - very good sized accommodation nicely furnished; walk in wardrobe, robes and fruit in the mini suite - and a brilliant view from the balcony. The staff could only be described as fantastic - they really can't do enough for their guests. The ship was spotless throughout; the food was superb and plentiful. Most guests on the cruise were continental European but MSC tried hard to ensure English speaking guests felt at home and we certainly didn't find this a problem. The itinerary was a good mix - Ancona, Gythion, Athens, Corfu, Dubrovnik - excursions were competitively priced and varied, and the one we went on (Athens) was well organised with a knowledgeable guide who spoke good English. There is plenty to do on board for all ages, or if you prefer some quiet "you" time it is relatively easy to find quieter areas of the ship. The entertainment was good although it wasn't surprising that it was aimed more for the majority of guests - on one occasion we did ask the Cruise Director to do some of the jokes in English which he happily did after buying us a drink in the bar - what more could you ask! |
