MSC Cruises is an Italian cruise operator based in Naples, Italy. The company has a long maritime history and became known as MSC Cruises in the mid-1990s. By the end of 2009, MSC Cruises will have eleven ships in service worldwide. The company has two new ships named Magnifica and Splendida scheduled to be delivered this year.

Better known to European customers, MSC Cruises is starting to make a name for itself in the North American cruise market with several ships spending the winter months sailing to the Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale, FL.

MSC Musica entered service in 2006. The ship is 964 feet in length, has fourteen passenger decks and an impressive atrium. With a capacity over 2500, the ship has roughly 2.6 passengers per crew member. MSC Musica has elegant Italian decor throughout the ship.

MSC Musica sails the Mediterranean from April through October. MSC Musica's 7-night Greek Islands in the Sun departs from Venice, Italy. The cruise stops in exotic ports, including Corfu, Mykonos, Santorini, Athens (Piraeus) and Dubrovnik, Croatia.

MSC Musica offers passengers a diverse menu of shore excursions through its website, which enables passengers to search by Port. Excursions are segmented by level of difficulty: Easy, Moderate and Difficult. MSC's website provides information on shore excursions, but it need to be improved especially for Caribbean cruises.

MSC Musica has over 1200 cabins onboard. You can choose from an Inside, Ocean View, Balcony or Suite. When selecting a cabin, make sure you know which public areas are near, above and below your cabin. Everyone's tastes are different, but it's best not to be surprised when you get onboard.

  • Suites: 269 sq. ft. with balcony
  • Balcony: 192 sq. ft. with balcony
  • Ocean View: 183 sq. ft. with a picture window or porthole
  • Inside: 152 sq. ft.

MSC Musica offers a wide variety of dining options onboard. From casual to elegant, we have been told that the cuisine on MSC Cruises is good. There are two seatings for dinner in the main dining rooms, while breakfast and lunch are open seating.

MSC Musica Restaurants:

  • Gli Archi: buffet dining
  • Le Maxim: main dining
  • L'Oleandro: main dining
  • Kaito: specialty sushi restaurant, additional charge of $24 per person
  • Il Giardino: specialty restaurant, additional charge of $24 per person
  • 24-hour room service menu (we hear there is a delivery charge for room service orders after breakfast hours)

MSC Musica's main entertainment venue is the La Scala Theatre. Typically, there are two seatings for the theatrical, musical or comedic productions each evening. La Scala Theatre, which is well styled also hosts special theme parties and other events.

MSC Musica's San Remo Casino is open while the ship is "At Sea." You will find popular table games, including Black Jack, Craps, Poker and Roulette. You will also find lots of Slot Machines and Video Poker. Just a reminder, you must be 21 years of age to enter the casino.

Typically, there will be slot tournaments while you are onboard.

MSC Musica features the Aloha Beauty Farm & Fitness Center located at the forward end of the Vivace Deck. You can exercise on elliptical trainers, treadmills and stationary bikes. There are also weight training machines and free-weights available. They also offer a number of classes.

There is a certified trainer on duty if you need help or want a personalized fitness program. You will find men's & women's sauna and stream rooms where you can relax after your workout.
