Nieuw Amsterdam offers a wide variety of dining options onboard. From casual to elegant, we have been told that the cuisine on Holland America is very good. Holland America recently introduced "As You Wish" dining allowing passengers a flexible dining schedule. If you prefer the traditional set times and seating assignments that option is also available. Whatever your preference, there is a lot to choose from. Nieuw Amsterdam has two new dining concepts, the Canaletto & Tamarind Restaurants that were first introduced on ms Eurodam.

- Lido Restaurant: buffet dining for breakfast and lunch; casual dinner atmosphere
- Terrace Grill: day time casual dining on the Lido Deck
- Canaletto Restaurant: Italian dining in a section of the Lido Restaurant (evenings only)
- Manhattan Dining Room: two-story main dining room
- Tamarind Restaurant: specialty Pan Asian dining, costs an additional $15 - $20 per person for dinner depending on menu choices
- Pinnacle Grill: specialty restaurant, costs an additional $20 per passenger for dinner.

Nieuw Amsterdam features a Casino on the Lower Promenade Deck that is open while the ship is "At Sea." You will find popular games, including Black Jack, Craps, Slot Machines, Three Card Poker and Video Poker. Typically, there will be Slot tournaments while you are onboard. Nieuw Amsterdam entered service in July, 2010. The ship is 936 feet in length and has eleven passenger decks. With a capacity of 2100 passengers, the ship has roughly 2.2 passengers per crew member. Nieuw Amsterdam has many of the touches found onboard other Holland America ships plus several new amenities that are described in the following sections.
Nieuw Amsterdam will cruise the Mediterranean during the Summer months. Nieuw Amsterdam offers a number of amazing itineraries departing from Venice, Italy through October. Beginning in November, Nieuw Amsterdam will cruise the Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale.
Nieuw Amsterdam offers passengers a diverse menu of shore excursions through its website, which enables passengers to search by Destination and Port. Excursions can be reserved online up to five days before your cruise, anytime by phone or onboard the ship at the Shore Excursion Desk.
Nieuw Amsterdam has over 1000 cabins onboard. You can choose from an Inside, Ocean View, Balcony or Suite. When selecting a cabin on Nieuw Amsterdam, make sure you know which public areas are near, above and below your cabin. Holland America Line allows guests who are legal drinking age to bring wine and champagne onboard Nieuw Amsterdam at the beginning of the cruise. If you bring your own wine or champagne to dinner, a corkage fee of $18/bottle will be applied to your onboard account.
Nieuw Amsterdam has three pools onboard. The Lido Deck Pool is located mid-ship with spa tubs and bar & grill. The Sea View Pool is at the rear of the Lido Deck. There is also a Hydro Pool near the entrance to the Greenhouse Spa & Salon. Nieuw Amsterdam has wooden chairs with lounge pads by the Lido Pool and mesh-back lounge chairs by the Sea View Pool. There are also abundant towels and crew members willing to serve you.
