Celebrity Cruises has been operating since 1989 and currently has eight ships in service worldwide with several new vessels on the way. Celebrity Cruises is owned by Royal Caribbean International and is based in Miami, Florida. When doing your homework on Celebrity Cruises, take note that the fleet is divided into of four classes of ships based on size, capacity and when the ship entered service (see cruise ship pages for more information).

Celebrity Solstice (first ship in the Solstice Class) made its debut in December of 2008. The ship is more than 1000 feet in length, with 13 decks and an impressive atrium. With a capacity of 2850 and a crew of 1000, Celebrity Solstice has a passenger to crew ratio of 2.85, which is slightly higher than most of the Celebrity fleet.

Celebrity Solstice offers four types of cabins: Suites, Verandahs, Ocean View and Inside. In addition to the usual comforts onboard, Celebrity Solstice features the new Aqua Class Verandah. As we learn more, we'll pass along the details.

All cabins on Celebrity Cruises are well appointed and feature HD TVs. When selecting a cabin, make sure you know which public areas are near, above and below your cabin. Everyone's tastes are different, but it's best not to be surprised when you get onboard.

  • Suites: 300 - 1291 sq. ft. with 79 - 389 sq. ft. balconies
  • Verandahs: 194 - 575 sq. ft. with 53 - 105 sq. ft. balconies
  • Ocean View: 177 sq. ft. with a porthole or picture window
  • Inside: 183 - 200 sq. ft.

Celebrity Solstice has a 24-hour Internet Cafe and a WiFi network for passengers bringing their own laptops. The WiFi network can be accessed from several locations onboard. Here's what it will cost you to access the Internet on Celebrity Solstice:

  • $0.65/minute for pay as you go
  • $40 for 75 minutes = $0.53/minute
  • $60 for 125 minutes = $0.48/minute
  • $80 for 185 minutes = $0.43/minute

  • WiFi per minute charges are the same as the Internet Cafe

Celebrity Cruises allows guests to bring onboard two bottles (750 ml) of wine per cabin (not per person) at the beginning of the cruise. A corkage fee of $25 per bottle will be applied if you bring your own wine to the dining rooms.

Guests are not permitted to bring any other alcoholic beverages onboard Celebrity Solstice. Alcohol purchased in the ship's duty free or in port will be held until the end of your cruise. A reminder, the legal drinking age onboard the ship is 21 years of age.

Celebrity Solstice's main entertainment venue is the two-level Solstice Theater located on the Promenade and Entertainment Decks. Typically, there are two seatings for the theatrical, musical or comedic productions each evening.

Celebrity Solstice's Fortunes Casino is located on the Promenade Deck and is open while the ship is "At Sea." You will find popular games, including Black Jack, Caribbean Stud Poker, Craps, Slot Machines and Three Card Poker.

Typically, there will be Slot tournaments while you are onboard. Just a reminder, you must be 18 years of age to enter the casino.

Celebrity Solstice features the Sports Pool, the Family Pool and the Wet Zone area for kids on the Resort Deck. In addition, you will find four spa tubs and a Pool Bar. Many passengers like the wide open deck configuration on Celebrity Cruises. Past travelers say the pool area definitely feels less congested than those on other cruise lines.

Celebrity Solstice also features The Lawn Club, an outdoor deck with natural grass. We'll pass along more details as they become available.

Celebrity Solstice has a large gym at the forward end of the Resort Deck. You can exercise on elliptical trainers, treadmills and stationary bikes. There are also weight training machines and free-weights available. They offer a number of classes, including aerobics, pilates and spinning.

There is a certified trainer on duty if you need help or want a personalized fitness program. You will find men's & women's sauna and stream rooms where you can relax after your workout.
