| This was a first time cruise for us. Overall the experience was ok. Alaska is beautiful, the cruise ship was comfortable, the food not so great.
We've realized we're not cruise people
- We like to spend more time at the destination and explore further - the few hours you get on port left us unsatisfied.
- Cabins on the cruise are rather small - even though we had the mini-suite we found it to be cramped for a week long stay.
- Cruising Alaska you cannot spend as much time on the deck as in warmer climates, limiting open space availability and some activities
- Yes there are many activities on a ship - but they're similar to ones I can do at home (movies, shows, Bingo, family games) - I want to spend my time doing/visiting things/places at the destinations.
- We realized that we do not enjoy the All-inclusive food experience. The buffet looked very good but did not appeal to our taste buds.
- Food in the specialty restaurants was good but had the same menu everyday. We are vegetarian so our options were limited as well.
- The Maitre 'D was very accommodating and prepared special food for us - we truly appreciated the gesture and made sure he knew that. Unfortunately there was little variety and eating almost the same thing for all the meals for 7 days wasn't super exciting.
So overall - Alaska was great, cruise was comfortable, a good one time experience - probably not something we would do again soon. |

"Amazing First Cruise!!!" |
Review submitted June 2, 2010 from Brownsville, Oregon, USA |
Norwegian Pearl Rating: 5 out of 5 |
This was an amazing experience!! My new husband and I have never been on a cruise before, this will not be our last! The staff on there was top notch! Everyone was friendly and great to get to know. We had a room with a porthole and was very happy with it. Not small by any means. If you don’t like a schedule cruise with a freestyle cruise. We are planning to back on the Alaskan cruise with a group. We can't say enough about the ship, staff, food, and entertainment. |
