Carnival Destiny (the only ship in the Destiny Class) entered service in 1996 and was completely refurbished in 2005. Carnival Destiny cruises the Western Caribbean from her home port of Miami, Florida. The ship is 892 feet in length, has 12 decks and features a nine story atrium.
With a capacity just shy of 3400, Carnival Destiny is a large ship with roughly 3.2 passengers per crew member. Public areas of the ship have names such as Galaxy, Sun, Sea and Universe.

When doing your homework on Carnival, take note that the fleet is divided into 7 classes of ships based on size, capacity and when the ship entered service. Carnival offers an affordable price point and has the reputation of being a family friendly cruise line. In an effort to keep pace with competition, Carnival has added new outdoor amenities on several ships. Recent travelers are impressed with the WaterWorks spray park for kids, the Serenity Adult Only Retreat and Carnival's Seaside Theatre that shows movies and sporting events on a large screen video board.

Carnival Cruise Lines offers passengers a diverse menu of shore excursions based on approximately 20 different activity types (easy, moderate and considerable). You can search for excursions by Destination and Port on Carnival's website. Reservations can be made once you have paid a cruise deposit. Carnival Destiny has approximately 1,300 cabins onboard. While most cabins have ocean views, keep in mind that 36% feature balconies. When selecting a cabin on Carnival Destiny, make sure you know which public areas are near, above and below your cabin. Everyone's tastes are different, but it's best not to be surprised when you get onboard.
- Suites: 275 - 345 sq. ft. with balcony
- Balcony: 185 sq. ft. with balcony

Carnival Destiny's beds are mostly two twin-size configured into a king-size. The cruise line features its Carnival Comfort Collection consisting of high thread count linens and duvets along with thick towels and bathrobes.

Carnival Cruise Lines allows each guest over 21 to bring onboard one bottle (750 ml) of wine or champagne at the beginning of the cruise. If you bring your own wine or champagne to dinner, a corkage fee of $10/bottle will be applied.
Guests are not permitted to bring any other alcoholic beverages onboard Carnival Destiny. Alcohol purchased in the ship's duty free or in port will be held until the end of your Carnival cruise. A reminder, the legal drinking age onboard Carnival Destiny is 21 years of age.

Carnival Destiny's Millionaire's Club Casino is located on the Promenade Deck and is open while the ship is "At Sea." You will find popular games, including Black Jack, Caribbean Stud Poker, Craps, Mega Cash, Roulette, Slot Machines, Texas Hold'em Poker and Three Card Poker.
Typically, there will be Slot & Texas Hold'em tournaments while you are onboard. Unlike Las Vegas casinos, Texas Hold'em onboard is an automated video game designed to speed-up play. Like most cruise lines, Carnival offers a casino loyalty program. Just a reminder, you must be 18 years of age to enter the casino.

Carnival Destiny has several pools and hot tubs onboard. For small children, there is a small wading pool on the Sun Deck. For bigger kids, there is water slide that ends up on the Spa Deck. The Lido Pool and larger Sun & Sea Pool are located on the Lido Deck.
Carnival Destiny does not have the WaterWorks park for kids and the Serenity Adult Only Retreat that are available on other Carnival Cruise Ships.

Carnival Destiny features a large gym at the forward end of the Spa Deck. You can exercise on elliptical trainers, treadmills and stationary bikes. There are also weight training machines and free-weights available. They offer a number of classes, including aerobics, pilates and spinning.
There is a certified trainer on duty if you need help or want a personalized fitness program. You will find men's & women's sauna and steam rooms where you can relax after your workout.

Carnival Destiny's Spa is located adjacent to the gym and offers passengers a wide menu of treatments. Spa services include: manicures, pedicures, facials, body wraps and massage. There is also a hair salon available for both men & women, though it gets busy when there is a formal night in the dining room.
